…Method Fabric Softener in Fresh Air Scent. In college, my friends and I would obsess over getting our sheets to smell like Tide Mountain Spring detergent, though we’ve realized since that it’s best to avoid conventional soaps. And traditionally, I hate fabric softener. I’ve never liked using it, and I hate the way it makes my towels and clothes feel.
But I swear this stuff is great. I only started using it because I was frustrated by most natural detergents failing to leave my laundry smelling yummy-fresh. I also tried other natural fabric softeners, including the Seventh Generation ones, but to no avail. I returned to the Method softener time and time again, so now I always have it in my laundry room.
My only concern is that there is no available list of ingredients, on the bottle or their website. I sent an email to their customer service to see what they would tell me, but I got the run-around about how that’s proprietary information, and how they need to protect their formulas, blah blah blah… Look, they’ve probably got a point, but I’m such a label reader that it makes me uncomfortable when I turn over a bottle of something and there’s no comprehensive list of ingredients. However, the company says the ingredients are “naturally derived, non-hazardous, biodegradable and non-corrosive”, and that they “observe design guidelines in line with the US EPA’s Design for the Environment and Green Chemistry initiatives“. It’s also seriously concentrated, so you don’t need to use as much. And of course, they never test on animals. So even if I can’t read the ingredients, at least I know they’re not awful.
You can buy this product on the Method Home site, or at drugstore.com. Also, Target has a cool little Flash dealie telling you all about Method, and you can always get Method products there.
*UPDATE: I no longer endorse Method’s products. You can read it about why right here.
