REVIEW: Seventh Generation Baby Wipes

Seventh Generation baby wipes ROCK.

Ted and I don’t have any kids yet, but our house is stocked with Seventh Generation baby wipes. They’re in the bathroom, the kitchen, and my office. I even have a travel pack in my car.

I use these wipes for just about everything. They’re whitened without the use of chlorine bleach and they’re alcohol-free, and the aloe vera and vitamin E make them perfect for wiping my hands. I sometimes use a wipe or two to remove my makeup at night, they’re soothing and smell so nice. And when I take my dogs to the dog park, I wipe their feet and nails before they get into my car.

Wondering why I keep the wipes in my office? I use part of my office for printmaking, and when I make linocut prints, I use water-based ink. When I started doing this, I needed a way to clean the lino blocks without making a huge mess. When I tried one of these wipes, I realized I had found my solution. Once, my Seventh Generation ones ran out, and I had to use some conventional ones. Not only did they smell gross and dry my hands out, but they didn’t even work very well. So now I stick with my favorites.

There are about a billion uses for these things. I can think of many, many times when they’ve been useful. Get some and keep them in your house, and you’ll find them useful time and time again. They’re available at Whole Foods, as well as local health food stores. You can sometimes find Seventh Generation products at regular grocery stores like Albertson’s, but since they don’t carry very many items, you’d have to call ahead to see what they have.

We don’t have babies yet either, but we use similar wipes several ways. I purchased Seventh Generation’s since I figured they are a much better choice than Cottonelle. However, the Seventh Generation wipes reek! Did I get a bad batch? I am very scent oriented - do you know of a healthy good-smelling alternative for wipes?

What do you mean by “reek”? I have these wipes in my cabinet right now, they have a kind of baby smell, maybe a little more earthy… Kind of like a hippie’s kid. Is this what you mean? If they smell worse than that, I don’t know what to tell ya.

I buy these wipes, but don’t like the smell. I even had a batch that was moldy upon opening. I was able to exchange them…just made sure I bought ones with a different batch number.
