in REVIEWS: Media & Books

In case you haven’t been paying attention, I have a list of other blogs and websites on the right side of this blog, under the ads. It’s in a kind of un-obvious location, so I’d like to specifically point out The Ethicurean to you. The Ethicurean is a group of like-minded people all over the country whose common interests are food and eating. It’s a blog about “thinking about food”, in their words. Actually, their words are pretty darn good:

“This blog is dedicated to thinking about food. Not just thinking about how to prepare it, or how it tastes — although those things are very important to us — but to pondering where and how it was grown and by whom, the distance that it traveled to our plate, and the less obvious effects of our consuming it.” You can read more about them over here.

What I love about The Ethicurean is that it has an unusual format. Six different people write about what’s important to them, so you get various writing styles and perspectives. It’s also very current, providing with up-to-date information about the latest (bogus?) food scares, media headlines related to food, and eco-friendly events. The Ethicurean team occasionally share a recipe or a favorite seasonal vegetable with their readers. And with titles like “Get Your Daikon” and “Hooked on Hydroponics”, you KNOW they keep it entertaining.

I’m always on the lookout for great blogs and websites I can read, and possibly write about. If you know of any good ones, let me know!
