REVIEW: ExpoWest 2007 in Anaheim

Yesterday marked the last day of this year’s ExpoWest, arguably the most important trade show in the natural products industry. Held in the Anaheim Convention Center, this show is friggin’ huge.

We got into town on Friday night, so we missed the first day. I started out early on Saturday morning with an ambitious game plan, a list of thirty-something booths to visit over the weekend. I ended up overachieving, completing the entire list on Saturday evening. I hoofed it around the Convention Center with my notepad in hand, asking questions and taking notes like a woman on a mission. The good thing about my gung-ho Saturday was that it left Sunday for a more casual approach, leisurely walking the aisles with Ted and my brother-in-law Chris. This way I was able to visit everyone I wanted to see, and I also had a chance to explore new companies and products, finding lots of new things to research and write about.

This was the first year I went to Expo for this website, and the first year I wasn’t there for another company. Though I absolutely loved working for Jungle Products last year, I must say it was really gratifying to walk the show as “Kerry from The Sustainable Scoop”. My yellow press pass garnered some extra attention, and I was totally down with that. Who doesn’t love a little butt-kissing now and then?

I’m still sorting through my thoughts and notes on the show, so the next few weeks will be full of good material. I love ExpoWest for many reasons, and now The Sustainable Scoop has given me a new appreciation for this event.
