Hugo Naturals, I’m Your Biggest Fan

in Companies That Get It

I love soap. I love lots of things, like paper goods, and caffeine, and rescuing shelter animals. But mostly, I love soap.

At last year’s ExpoWest, I met a man named Hugo Saavedra, whose soap company is called Hugo Naturals. He was walking around the show carrying bags and bags of his soaps, and they smelled divine. I sat down on the floor of our booth and devoured the smell of those soaps, and Hugo kindly gave me some bars to take home. I enjoyed those soaps for months, and each new bar delighted me in the shower with its unique aroma.

At this year’s Expo, Hugo had a booth of his own. I visited it a few times, and each time I neared the booth I was overwhelmed by the symphony of beautiful smells. I was again kindly sent home with soaps, and this time I also was given some shampoo and candles to try. When I got the bag home, I turned each soap over in my hand and admired it, and I was filled with a sense of pride knowing that the man whose company had made these soaps was boothless last year at the show, and this year the company had a lovely booth strewn with dried flowers. When a company’s products speak for themselves, they can move mountains; Hugo’s soaps speak volumes.

My favorite of all the amazing Hugo soaps

My favorite soap right now is the Shea Butter & Oatmeal soap, and the Brown Sugar & Kumquat scrub is divine. I’ve been using the Red Tea & Ylang-Ylang shampoo I got at the show, and I’m continually amazed at how much moisture and life it brings to my hair. The company has many other products, like their fabulous candles and essential oil mists. I recommend trying out several to see which ones you like. Hugo’s scents are so varied and unique, so it’s hard to tell which one you’ll like best without using a few.

At the company’s soap production shop in Chatsworth, California, everything is hand-made. But despite the great amount of care that goes into each product, they’re priced reasonably on the shelf. Soaps are $6, shampoo is $12, and their showel gel is $10. They achieve this pricing by operating with a goal to sell a large volume, thus reducing the price per item paid by consumers. Hugo Naturals believes that good soap shouldn’t be a luxury item you leave untouched in your guest bathroom; it should be something you can afford to use every day, in every room of your house.

The company has a list of ingredients for each of their products that you can download from their site. The list gives a rundown of what each of their products include, as well as explanations of each ingredient and why they include it in their products.

Hugo Naturals has great products at good prices, which means that you can afford to bring some beauty into your everyday life. Tasks like washing your hands won’t seem so mundane with Hugo in your house. Give Hugo a try.
