Recently I was sent some samples from a company I wasn’t familiar with, Suki Pure Skin Care. One of my readers* told me about this company, and I’m glad I checked it out, because Suki is AWESOME.
I’m particularly smitten with Suki’s Lemongrass Cleanser. I’ve never been into those facial scrubs with things in their ingredients that are designed specifically to scrub off twelve layers of your skin, things like ground apricot pits. What good is scrubbing the hell out of the skin on your face, anyway? Suki’s cleanser has little bits of sugar that do a much subtler job of exfoliating, and I’d even call it enjoyable.
Plus, it smells divine. It’s not all hippie-lemongrassy, it’s more like you went trotting through a sunny field full of lemongrass and your linen dress picked up some of the scent. Or something. Let’s just say it’s pleasant. And seriously, my skin has never felt cleaner and softer in my life.
I’m really pleased with the product’s ingredient list, and it seems like all of Suki’s products are simple and clean. In fact, along with a helpful ingredient glossary on the Suki site, there’s also a list of ingredients to avoid, things that aren’t in Suki’s products and that shoulnd’t be in any products in your bathroom. If you’re new to the idea of censoring your beauty and bath products for naughty ingredients and you want a good place to start, I’d recommend this page.
I’m not using Suki’s lemongrass cleanser every day, because I still love and use the facial cleanser from Pangea. It’s gentler and smells a little girlier, which I like sometimes. But sometimes I’ve just gotta scrub my face clean, know what I mean?
If you’d like to find a place in your city that sells Suki’s line, drop them a line.
*Sidenote: Last week my hard drive died, and though I had most everything backed up, a lot of my Sustainable Scoop email has been lost. So, the name of the woman who recommended Suki to me is currently unknown. Whoever you are, thank you!
