For me, showers are a religious experience. I’ve even been known to pray. I am odd, but the warm water pouring down, light streaming in through a tall window, and washing away grime with an aromatic soap all make for peaceful cleansing. One such soap is Pangea Organics Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom shower gel.
Pangea Organics is actually the avenue through which I found The Sustainable Scoop. I’d seen Pangea’s well-designed products on the shelves at Whole Foods and I Googled their web site. Lo and behold, I found The Scoop under "Friends of Pangea". I quickly noticed that Kerry was a passionate fan of Pangea Organics, so here and there I tried a few of their products and I, too, was very impressed on many levels. Each of their shower gel scents sounded out of this world, but I have a thing for lavender and I do have notoriously thirsty skin. Plus, I crave Indian food which often contains cardamom, so I simply had to try the shower gel. But I’m not weird enough to eat in the shower or anything. Geez.
Like each Pangea product, the scent of Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom is fantastic: a top note of lavender, but after you scrub for a few minutes, a pop of cardamom wafts through the air. If you click on the ingredient list, you’ll see many other aromas to please your nose - for example, blood orange, fennel, and rosemary. I’ve told my husband this is a good unisex scent which he must try. Also, a dime-size dollop of the shower gel is good for a full head-to-toe sudsing making the eye-pleasing brown bottle last for many showers. It does not dry out my skin at all, and how could it with the moisturizing elements of coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, hemp seed oil, jojoba oil, as well as soothing aloe vera. Did I mention that the herbs and oils are all organic? Skin Deep gives it a low rating of 2, their main concern being guar gum. Not bad.
Of course, I’d forgotten you can plant their boxes in the ground, so when I realized the shower gel box could be planted to grow Italian basil in our backyard, I was VERY excited. Planting a basil-box is much better than recycling, don’t you think? Then right on the bottle are more reasons to buy this shower gel: it is handcrafted, organic, fair trade (whenever possible), cruelty-free, and their products never contain petroleum, sulfates or detergents, synthetic preservatives, artificial colors or fragrances, not even GMO’s. Now that’s something to sing hallelujah about!
