GUEST REVIEW: Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser (Orange You Glad I Washed My Face?)

I don’t know exactly how many years I’ve used Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, but it’s been at least seven. To be accurate, I did stray away time and again. A dermatologist suggested Cetaphil, and other scented, frilly cleansers caught my eye. And yet, I always came back to Burt’s. As I’ve stated before, I have sensitive/dry skin from head to toe. Even Cetaphil sucked too much moisture from my complexion.

The Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser ingredients are: glycerin, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, lanolin, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, quillaja saponaria extract, avena sativa (oat) kernel oil, vegetable oil, beta-carotene, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, tocopherol. Orange oil is a natural, gentle cleanser and it smells fabulous. Oat & aloe vera are very healing and soothing to our skin. Olive oil is an excellent moisturizer. A friend told me her relatives from Italy rub olive oil on their faces and hands regularly, and with all those family hugs, she can feel the soft effects of the natural moisturizer.

The only thing about the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser that I had to grow accustomed to was the texture. It is not a foaming liquid that creates a rich lather you might expect. This product is a gel which I apply to dry skin. A small amount covers my whole face and creates a pleasant warming sensation. Then I rinse it off with warm water. I promise you that my skin feels so soft and clean afterwards. The directions on Burt’s Bees’ web site say to apply the cleanser to wet skin, so pick whichever method you prefer.

I’ll share a bonus tip with you since we all love Pangea Organics around here. After washing my face, I spritz on Pangea’s French Rosemary with Sweet Orange Facial Toner. After that, my face feels healthy, and all of that aromatherapy puts me in a happy place.

Oh my gosh, i LOOOOOVE this stuff. it smells heavenly and feels so good. I agree that the texture is hard to get used to at first, but the scent and feel far outweighs it in my opinion :) Clever title!

Agreed! I LOVE this stuff. I have been using it for 2 years now and couldn’t be happier. It does feel a bit like spreading honey on your face (and tastes like it too) but after a while you get used to the lack of foam. I’m not sure I could function without Burts Bees in my bathroom.
