Dr. Bronner’s For Sale… at American Apparel? WTF?

in Questionable Practices

Does anyone else think this is weird? Check it out for yourself. I know that American Apparel is selling more organic cotton stuff now, though these items are strewn among the shiny gold lamé leggings and unbearably tight tube dresses. So why are they selling Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap? It seems like an odd match to me. And further, why only peppermint?

Maybe Dov Charney, CEO and Perv Extraordinaire, makes his “models” bathe in it before he shoots the porn-tastic print ads for the company. If you believe the company, their ads show their “provocative photography.” I’m no prude, I saw plenty of shocking and racy images in my art history classes, and THIS, sir, is no art.[Warning: If you follow the link, expect to see butt cheeks.] I definitely love me some Bronner’s, but I don’t think I could ever bring myself to order it from American Apparel.

That IS weird! And wow, those ads are horrible. But I love your label “porn-tastic” - that’s hilarious.

I went in the American Apparel store here in Dallas recently and almost puked. Totally U-turned right outta there, passing the turquoise MALE skinny jeans on the way out.

Some of those girls look like they were coerced into taking those pictures. Super creepy!

I’ve always suspected that Dr. Bronner’s was turning a little mainstream when they replaced the charming original label warning (”Don’t Drink Soap! Keep Out of Eye! Dilute! Dilute! Okay!”) with the all-American standard warning, “Keep out of eyes! If irritation persists, call a physician”…..ugh, everything changes…..
